Historical & Speculative Fiction · Time Travel
The Aztec and Incan empires are at their height. Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital, was larger than London, Paris, Lisbon, and Rome. One empire ruled through a sophisticated system of government. The other through hierarchy and fear. Combined, they were beginning to change the continent’s ecology in line with Charles Mann’s 1491, which identified human population as the problem. A mission with conflicting ethics — because two ills do not make a right — drives the time travelers to explore and alter the teeming societies of South America.
