GRAHAM BALCH WINS ATLANTA CANDIDATE FORUM

June 25, 2010

ATLANTA – Georgia State Senate Candidate Graham Balch received the highest score among State Senate and State Representative candidates as rated by the audience of the Georgia Legislature Candidates Forum hosted by Georgia STAND-UP, an alliance of academic, community, and faith leaders, and labor organizations.

Graham Balch’s opponent, long-time incumbent, State Senator Vincent Fort, failed to show up, and has discouraged other groups from hosting debates.

“We are involved in the most competitive state senate race in metropolitan Atlanta. The incumbent is non-responsive and out-of-touch with the issues needed to move State Senate District 39 forward. The results speak from themselves. Graham Balch will deliver practical solutions for hard-working Georgia families.” said Will Sellers, Graham Balch’s campaign manager.

Graham Balch, a life-long resident of Atlanta, is currently an award-winning biology teacher at Grady High School in the Atlanta Public Schools. Prior to becoming a teacher, he served in the Peace Corps and worked for several years in business, including as the CEO of a small company. He has also served on his neighborhood board and NPU-E, and is currently an elected post seat holder with the Fulton County Democratic Party. Balch is focused on improving our public education by implementing President Obama’s educational reform plans and getting our economy back on track by creating jobs in Georgia.
